A/Prof Ingrid Hopper is a heart failure physician and clinical pharmacologist.

A/Prof Hopper completed her physician training at Alfred Hospital and then a PhD in heart failure therapeutics, specifically medication withdrawal in patients with polypharmacy. She was awarded the Mollie Holman medal for best thesis in the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, and was a finalist in the Victorian Premier’s Prize for Health and Medical Research. Her research formed a practice recommendation in the Australian Heart Failure guidelines 2018.

At the Alfred, she consults in Heart Failure Clinic, and is an investigator on a number of clinical trials. She is a NHMRC early career fellow, and head of drug and device registries at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Her interests include the safe and effective use of medications and high risk implantable medical devices, quality improvement in healthcare including through clinical quality registries, epidemiology and public health. She has over 50 peer reviewed publications.
