Two super practical podcasts to help you identify and manage cow’s milk allergy and lactose intolerance—and important information on plant-based formula and milk

Cow’s milk allergy and lactose intolerance are often thought of as interchangeable—but they’re not the same—and the symptoms and strategies to treat them aren’t either, says Dr Rupert Hinds, a consultant gastroenterologist at Monash Children’s Hospital.

“A lactose free formula, in a baby with tummy symptoms, really has very little place as a management strategy because it’s so unlikely to be successful…” he explains.

Meanwhile, Marianne Tomlin, a paediatric allergy dietitian, also at Monash Children’s Hospital discusses plant-based formula options—and over-the-counter plant-based milk.
