Iron deficiency in pregnancy not only causes problems for the mother, it can have negative consequences for the baby, too.
In this presentation, Specialist Haematologist and Obstetric Physician, Dr Renee Eslick, discusses the importance of iron in pregnancy, how we can determine who is at risk of deficiency and what can be done to ensure adequate iron supplementation. Importantly, she will also share practical tips and suggestions on how to improve the tolerability and effectiveness of oral iron supplementation, as well as advising when an intravenous iron infusion is the more appropriate option.
