Description

Menopausal vasomotor symptoms affect approximately 80% of women, of whom 1 in 3 experience moderate to severe symptoms. Whilst menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is the most effective treatment for these symptoms, many women cannot, or choose not to, take MHT.

For these women there are a range of lifestyle, procedural and prescription-based treatments which have been shown to be effective. These include Cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnosis, several SSRIs and SNRIs, centrally acting agents, the anticholinergic medication oxybutynin and now neurokinin B receptor antagonists.
