Well, if nothing else, it looks as though GPs are ready to race through to stage 4 of the COVID recovery plan.

According to Healthed’s latest survey, a whopping 88.84% of GPs have now been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The latest result, from an online questionnaire of over 700 GPs conducted on June 22 represents a steady increase from the last survey conducted only two weeks prior (June 8) where only 84.35% of GPs reported they had been immunised.

Reasons for why respondents had just recently received the vaccine suggest that the increased availability of the Pfizer vaccine was, at least in part, responsible for the jump.

And as much as we would love to start a betting competition as to when we might achieve that magical 100% coverage mark, the survey results also suggest this might not be possible. Of the doctors who had not been vaccinated, almost 6% (5.79%) report the vaccine is contraindicated for them because of a pre-existing medical issue.

Nonetheless, when they set the benchmark of what percentage of the population needs to be vaccinated before Australia opens up to the rest of the world again, it looks like GPs will be well and truly doing their part.
