Iron deficiency in heart failure is not only common but represents a serious risk factor for poorer outcomes. More and more evidence points to a significant association between iron deficiency and heart failure. This presentation details the latest understanding of the link between these two conditions including the prevalence of iron deficiency in heart failure, why it occurs and the reasons why it is important to treat. A/Prof Hopper will also present the recommendations for treatment which are not as straightforward as many people would imagine.
