Professor Raina MacIntyre is NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, Head of the Biosecurity Program at the Kirby Institute, and Professor of Global Biosecurity at UNSW. She runs a highly strategic research program spanning epidemiology, vaccinology, mathematical modelling, public health and clinical trials in infectious diseases. She is an international leader in emerging infections, and is involved in research on face mask, vaccines, influenza, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases research studies that directly inform national and international policy and practice in communicable disease control. She has a particular interest in adult vaccination with a focus on the elderly. She has won numerous awards for her research including the Sir Henry Wellcome Medal from the US Association of Military Surgeons for her work on risk analysis of bioterrorism and the Frank Fenner Award for advanced research in infectious diseases. She also won the Public Health Association of Australia’s Immunisation Achievement Award in 2014. She has served on numerous expert committees nationally and internationally, including for the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (US), Institute of Medicine in the US and the WHO. She was a finalist in the 2017, 2020 and 2021 Eureka Prizes and won the 2017 CAPHIA Research Team Prize. Nicole Lee is Adjunct Professor at the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI), Curtin University. She is also CEO and Managing Director at Hello Sunday Morning and CEO at 360Edge, a specialist alcohol and other drugs consultancy translating research to policy and practice, as well as a consultant psychologist in practice. She has worked in the alcohol and other drugs and mental health sectors for 34 years as a clinician and teaching and research academic. Her area of expertise is in alcohol and other drug policy and practice, especially methamphetamine/’ice’; cannabis policy; alcohol use and treatment; and general harm reduction and treatment approaches. She has extensive clinical and treatment expertise in these areas Nicole is a member of the Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drugs (ANACAD), a member of the Board of The Loop Australia, and Fellow of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy. She has previously served on the boards of the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs (APSAD); the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy; and the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA).
Dr Manal Mohammed is a Senior Lecturer of Medical Microbiology at University of Westminster. Manal’s research and teaching focus on infectious diseases, their diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Dr Mohammed obtained her PhD in Medical Microbiology from University of Liverpool, UK. Manal’s research interests include application of next generation sequencing technologies and associated bioinformatics analyses tools in investigating the molecular basis of virulence of non typhoidal salmonellosis in humans and understanding the complex dynamics of bacteria-phage interaction.

Manal is very passionate about science and science communication. She has been interviewed by BBC Radio London, Daily Mail and BBC News podcast ‘Victoria Derbyshire’. Associate Professor Robyn Saw is a Melanoma and Surgical Oncologist working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney (Head of Department) and affiliated with Melanoma Institute Australia. As well as her clinical responsibilities, she is actively involved in melanoma research and leads major research projects on surgical aspects, quality of life and survivorship. Translation of research into clinical benefit for patients is the focus of her research activity. She also has a strong focus on consumer engagement, coordinating the development of melanoma patient information booklets. She is passionate about the improvement of clinical care through education of students, trainees and clinicians.
