Description

The questions answered in this podcast are listed below. They were compiled by GPs and health professionals around Australia.

  1. Can you address the issue of why GLP1’s particularly good for in patients with type 2 diabetes?
  2. How best to use the GLP1 or the incretins versus the SGLT2 inhibitors.
  3. Is SGLT2’s the way to go?
  4. Let’s say you have started the patient on a GLP1 injectable. The questions and concerns that come up are: what about pancreatitis, GI side effects, what stops the compliance and how you might deal with these?
  5. Would you suggest blood tests for the pancreatitis? Or would you also add some sort of imaging to that?
  6. Tips on how to reduce the GI adverse effects.
  7. What are your comments on GLPs and mental health, use with SSRIs and suicidal ideation.
  8. Would it be fair to say that in obese patients with type 2 diabetes who have a strong history of depression, that if we had to make them help them lose weight, the GLP1s may be the way to go versus bariatric surgery, which has a significant mental health consequence.
  9. Do you have an idea how much weight can be lost with twincretin?
  10. How real is cardiovascular risk with Duromine?
  11. Is insulin the best treatment for skinny diabetics?
  12. Would you still recommend apart from the C-peptide, antibodies and islet cells, or different types of antibodies?
  13. What are the behavioural strategies in helping patients lose weight?
  14. What is bowel obstruction associated with GLP1s?
